Winter Festival of Lights Opening Ceremony Information

Opening Ceremonies Marks the Official Start of Canada’s Largest Illumination Festival.

Disney Diva, Daisy Duck, will make an appearance and along with Minnie Mouse, will sing one of their favourite songs Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree.
Opening Ceremonies for the 27th Annual Winter Festival of Lights takes place on Saturday, November 7, 2009 with a spectacular, outdoor, stage show in Queen Victoria Park, located just steps from the mighty falls, across from the Table Rock Complex.

Beginning at 5:00 pm, the show includes a wonderful presentation by the Festival of Lights Choir, under the direction of the Ontario Conservatory of Music – Niagara Falls, the Niagara Star Singers and A Cappella Niagara singing a medley of holiday classics.

The festivities continue with performances by Greg Frewin, International Grand Champion of Magic, the Oh Canada Eh! Dinner Show cast and the Niagara Star Singers.

This year some special visitors from the Walt Disney World® Resort have a surprise for the Winter Festival of Lights Opening festivities.  The fun gets underway as two favourite Disney Diva's, Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck, make an appearance and sing one of their favorite songs Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree.  The fun continues as Mickey and Minnie take to the stage to help with the official lighting ceremony.  This magical evening is sure to put everyone in the holiday spirit.

And as we flip the switch to officially begin the 27th Winter Festival of Lights, hundreds of brilliant lighting displays and three million sparkling lights will illuminate the Niagara Parks Winter Wonderland and the City of Niagara Falls until January 4, 2010.  Occurring along with the official lighting ceremony is a spectacular fireworks display.  The entire performance begins again at approximately 7:00 pm (minus the official lighting ceremony).

The Winter Festival of Lights Opening Ceremonies will put you in the holiday spirit throughout your time in Niagara Falls.  We invite you to bring the entire family to kick off the festive season at Canada’s foremost illumination festival, in its most famous address – Niagara Falls.

Note: Times are approximate and schedule is subject to change.  This is a rain or shine event.  Please dress appropriately for the weather.  Some seating will be available more so for the 7:00 pm show, however feel free to bring lawn chairs as they are permitted.  Parking is available nearby across from the Table Rock Center and at the Skylon Tower.  Food and drink concessions will be available as well.
