[ Back to Media ] Meridian Credit Union Invites Niagara Region to Skate at the Brink of the Falls Rink at the Brink Free SK8 Dates Set for December, January & February 8th Food & Cash Donations Being Collected for Niagara Region’s Food Banks Niagara Falls, ON – The Winter Festival of Lights (WFOL) and Meridian Credit Union are proud to announce the launch of Free SK8 Dates to be held at the Rink at the Brink on the 8th day of December, January and February. Residents of the Niagara Region may enjoy skating along with complimentary skate rental and parking within the Falls Parking lot for Tuesday’s Meridian Credit Union Free SK8 Date. Proof of residency must be shown and a food or cash donation to Project S.H.A.R.E, Community Cares or The Hope Center is being requested. “We are ecstatic to be a part of this new initiative that the Winter Festival of Lights has done to create a beautiful ice rink near the Falls. Our community is fortunate to be able to take advantage of so much that Niagara Falls has to offer everyday,” enthused Elaine Harvey, Executive Director, Project S.H.A.R.E. “Although Christmas gifts for children are wonderful to receive, many people in our community need help with the basic essentials of survival, including food and warm clothing. We, at Community Care, anticipate registering approximately 3,000 families this Christmas. We can only meet their needs through the generosity of the public,” stated Nancy McIntosh, Fund Development Officer, Community Care, St. Catharines & Thorold. Located across from the newly renovated Table Rock Centre, Rink at the Brink is open daily (10:00 am - 10:00 pm) until February 28, 2010. It provides recreational ice skating, skate, helmet and locker rentals, as well as skating lessons for groups and individuals. It also hosts special functions such as corporate holiday parties, birthdays and group outings. “Through Meridian’s Good Neighbour Program, we are excited to be the title sponsor of the Free Sk8 Dates. Meridian supports the communities where our Members and employees live, work and play and what a better way to do this, then to support a traditional Canadian wintertime pastime, at the brink of a natural wonder, while supporting local charities,” stated Laura Daly, Manager, Sponsorships and Donations at Meridian. “We appreciate the support received from our partners to be able to provide residents of the entire Region the opportunity to try the Rink at the Brink,” stated Joe Miszk, WFOL Chair. “While at the same time, we’re able to give back to the community by supporting its food banks.” Free SK8 Dates are presented by Meridian Credit Union and supported by The Niagara Parks Commission, SunMedia and GIANT FM.
