[ Back to Media ] Brighten Niagara’s Holiday Nights Enter the Sparkle Awards Contest Niagara Falls, ON – The Winter Festival of Lights (WFOL) is pleased to announce the launch of this year’s Home Hardware Sparkle Awards Contest, presented by The Niagara Falls Review. “Your local Home Hardware stores are thrilled to support the Winter Festival of Lights – an internationally recognized event and the Sparkle Awards Contest for our local residents,” stated Bert Prizen, Owner-Operator of Stamford Home Hardware & Fireplace. “We hope residents will show their community spirit and participate.” The Home Hardware Sparkle Awards Contest was created to promote community involvement and the spirit of festive goodwill in Niagara Falls during the holiday season. It includes four (4) property categories: Residential, Multi-Residential, Commercial and Bed & Breakfast. Single family houses, duplexes and individual townhouses are eligible for the Residential category, which is segmented by wards with first place awarded to a house in each ward while the Multi-Residential category includes apartment buildings and multi-unit residential complexes such as condominiums. The Commercial category includes restaurants, attractions, hotels, motels, factories, offices, stores, and institutional facilities excluding those owned by the City of Niagara Falls, and the Bed & Breakfast category consists of bed and breakfast properties throughout the City. All residents and businesses within the boundaries of Niagara Falls are invited to take part in this great community event. It provides a wonderful opportunity for residents and tourists alike to visit various neighbourhoods and marvel at their holiday lights and lighting displays. Entrants are judged on overall appearance, attractiveness, creative illumination, color coordination, and theme of their property when lit. Judging will be based upon the view from the nearest public roadway. Professionally decorated properties are not eligible. Entry forms are also available at Niagara Falls Home Hardware locations at 6080 McLeod Road and 3639 Portage Road. Submission deadline is December 7th and judging will occur December 9th. Sparkle Awards Contest entrants must be illuminated from 5:00pm to 11:00pm to be eligible.
