[ Back to Media ] Niagara’s Festive Nights are Brighter thanks to Sparkle Award Winners Niagara Falls, ON – The Winter Festival of Lights (WFOL) is pleased to announce the winners of the 2009 Home Hardware Sparkle Awards Contest, presented by The Niagara Falls Review. The Home Hardware Sparkle Awards Contest was created to promote community involvement and the spirit of festive goodwill in Niagara Falls during the holiday season. It includes four (4) property categories: Residential, Multi-Residential, Commercial and Bed & Breakfast. Single family houses, duplexes and individual townhouses are eligible for the Residential category, which is segmented by wards with first place awarded to a house in each ward. The Multi-Residential category includes apartment buildings and multi-unit residential complexes such as condominiums. The Commercial category includes restaurants, attractions, hotels, motels, factories, offices, stores, and institutional facilities excluding those owned by the City of Niagara Falls while the Bed & Breakfast category consists of bed & breakfast establishments. The winning entries in the Residential category are: Ward 1: 5067 Second Ave. Ward 2: 5446 Highland Ave. Ward 3: 7301 Freeman St. Ward 4: 6489 Riall St. Ward 5: 7786 Spring Blossom Dr. Ward 6: 8468 Oakwood Dr. In the Multi-Residential category, first place was awarded to Victoria Park Towers located at 6521 Drummond Road. In the Bed and Breakfast category, Villa Gardenia Bed & Breakfast, located at 4741 Zimmerman Avenue, was pronounced the winner. Lastly, Parkway Court Motel located at 3708 Main St. was named the Commercial category winner. Entrants were judged on the overall appearance, attractiveness, creative illumination, color coordination, and theme of their property when illuminated.
