[ Back to Media ] Which Band Will Advance to Battle for the Rock the Ice Nights Crown? Battle of the Bands Competition Showcases Musical Talent from across the Region Niagara Falls, ON – Rock the Ice Nights semi-final round continues Thursday, February 11th at 7:00pm as Xprime, Ecole Secondaire Jean Vanier, (Welland) competes against Avoiding the Afterlife, Laura Secord Secondary School, (St. Catharines) to determine which will move on to the finals. After their performances, Unit 42 will take the stage to close out the night. In the remaining semi-final round to be held next week Aintree, St. Paul Catholic High School (Niagara Falls); Athena Flashing, Saint Michael’s Catholic High School (Niagara Falls); and Face, Notre Dame College School (Welland) will battle to determine which goes into the finals. Of the five semi-finalists, three will compete for the Rock the Ice Nights crown on February 25th. Fans are encouraged to vote for the Fans Fav. During each week of the competition, the competing bands will be listed on www.niagarafallsreview.ca; the band with the most overall votes will be crowned the Fans Fav winners. Cost of admission is $10 and tickets can be purchased from participating bands or at the Rink at the Brink. Rock the Ice Nights will be broadcast weekly on TVCogeco in the Niagara Region. Rock the Ice Nights pits high school bands from across the region with weekly winners earning the right to battle again until one band is crowned Rock the Ice Nights Champions! Judging includes categories such as song writing, stage presence and overall sound.
