[ Back to Media ] Niagara Falls Comedy Fest Presents 2nd Annual Komedy for Kidneys Niagara Falls, ON – The Niagara Falls Comedy Fest (NFCF) is pleased to announce the 2nd Annual Komedy for Kidneys event to benefit the construction of a Kidney Dialysis Centre in Niagara Falls will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at the Greg Frewin Theatre. The charity event was recently renamed in memory of comedian, Rodney Pentland, who passed away earlier this year due to complications related to kidney disease. Rodney, who grew up in Niagara Falls, continued to entertain crowds throughout his long battle with the disease; he was best known for his outstanding impressions of Robert DeNiro and Bill Cosby. The evening will feature comedians: Johnny Gardhouse, Paul Haywood, Dave Hudson, Mark Matthews, Terry McGurrin, Nikki Payne, Marc Sinodinos, Winston Spear, Mark Walker and Pete Zedlacher. Comedian biographies are available at www.NiagaraFallsComedyFest.com. “I saw first-hand the debilitating effects kidney disease can have on a person’s life,” stated Dino Fazio, event founder, “Despite his near constant pain, Rodney kept people laughing both on and off the stage. He lived to make people laugh so it’s fitting that people will continue to associate laughter with his name.” Proceeds from the event will assist with the construction of a new Kidney Dialysis Centre in Niagara Falls that will house 15 dialysis units and is slated to open 2013. The inaugural Komedy for Kidneys charity event raised nearly $7,000 for the worthy cause. The Niagara Falls Comedy Fest has agreed to contribute $25,000 towards the Niagara Falls Kidney Dialysis Centre from proceeds of this and future editions of the Komedy for Kidneys Rodney Pentland Memorial Benefit Show. “We are delighted to know that proceeds from the event will continue to be donated to the construction of a new Kidney Dialysis Centre in Niagara Falls,” said Michael Somerville, GNGH Foundation. “And the commitment of $25,000 will see a space in the new centre dedicated in memory of Rodney.” Doors open at 7 PM and the show at 8 PM.
