[ Back to Media ] Run, Walk or Jog for a Good Time and a Great Cause! Niagara Falls, ON – The Winter Festival of Lights, along with the Niagara Falls International Marathon and Lundy’s Lane BIA, are pleased to announce that the 5th Annual CYTEC Candy Cane Lane 5k Race & Fun Run presented by RBC Royal Bank will be held on November 29, 2009. Both the 5k Race and Fun Run begin at 10:30am. The competitive 5k Race travels a 2.5 km route that begins and ends at the Best Western Cairn Croft Hotel on Lundy’s Lane (a.k.a. Candy Cane Lane). The Entry Fee is $25 and each participant receives a t-shirt, an Americana Resort & Spa Waves Water Park pass, a month free membership to Premier Fitness and goodie bag provided by the Niagara Falls International Marathon. Medals will be awarded in 13 age categories, while the top Overall Male and Overall Female 5k finishers each receive a $250 cash prize. On hand as official race starter and awards presenter will be Darda Sales, Canadian Gold Medal Winning Paralympian. Thanks to RBC Royal Bank, Darda will also be bringing the official 2010 Olympic Torch. The Fun Run provides everyone the opportunity to participate in an outdoor activity while raising pledges in support of a great cause. Participants are encouraged to walk, run or jog the route with family, friends, pets and neighbours. The Entry Fee is $10 per adult, $5 per child or $25 for a group of four (4). Each participant will receive an event t-shirt while those that reach various fundraising pledge levels for Project S.H.A.R.E. will receive prizes. The Winter Festival of Lights began the CYTEC Candy Cane Lane 5k Race & Fun Run as a way to encourage outdoor, wintertime physical activity while raising food and cash donations for the Project S.H.A.R.E Christmas Basket Program.
