CYTEC Candy Cane Lane 5k Race & Fun Run

The 5th Annual CYTEC Candy Cane Lane 5k Race & Fun Run presented by RBC Royal Bank has quickly established itself as a prestigious yet fun event organized in association with the Niagara Falls International Marathon and Lundy’s Lane BIA. It was established to promote both outdoor physical activity and healthy lifestyles while raising food and cash donations for the Project S.H.A.R.E. Christmas Basket Program.
5k Race: Runners from across the Niagara Region, GTA and Western New York continue to participate in the 5k Race. They complete two circuits of the 2.5 km route which starts at the Best Western Cairn Croft Hotel, travels along Lundy’s Lane (a.k.a. Candy Cane Lane) and surrounding streets and ends back at the Best Western Cairn Croft.
The top three male and female finishers in up to 13 age groups are awarded medals while the Overall Top Male and Female runners each receive a $250 cash prize. The Entry Fee is $25 and each 5k runner receives an event t-shirt.
Fun Run: The Fun Run is one lap around the 2.5 km route and allows families and friends to participate in a non-competitive fashion. All are encouraged to participate using creative ways to make the run fun, i.e. costumes, team themes, etc. Fun Runners may walk (even with baby strollers), use sleighs or skis with the ultimate goal being to have fun while enjoying an outdoor physical activity. Registration is $10 (adult), $5 (child under 12) or a group of four may enter for $25. Again, each participant will receive an event t-shirt.
In both cases, those raising funds for Project S.H.A.R.E. can earn additional prizes based on pledge amounts.
Afterwards, the Best Western Cairn Croft offers a pasta party lunch for $7 and stay for the award presentations where Paralympic Gold Medalist Swimmer, Darda Sales, will help present the awards.
